Rookie Question: Getting corn off the cob

I tried to make this last night. And I did it with fresh corn from the market. Problem? I COULD NOT GET THE CORN OFF THE COB.

How in the world are you supposed to do this/why are vegetables so hard?

  3. cayty said: Cook the corn and then just stand it up and slice off the kernels with a knife! Make sure to let it cool a bit first, or else it’s hard to hold. Great with cherry tomatoes, red onion, and balsamic too.
  4. shewantstohearshesbeautiful answered: If you have a bundt pan, rest the corn in the hole in the middle and cut. Corn falls right into the pan!
  5. vrai-lean-uh answered: I stand the corn up on its end (pointy end facing up) and run a knife down the length of the cob, slicing off the kernels.
  6. 09091983 answered: Turn a small bowl upside down in a larger bowl - stand cob on small bowl and cut kernels off with a knife. Thank Rachel Ray for that tip. :)

  10. 808enidan said: Break cob in half, so you have a flat surface to work with, hold it upright and basically cut the kernels off with a sharp knife much like when you peel a pineapple.
